Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

This place is emotionally draining

Middle management is filled with bullies who get away with everything because the top brass is too removed to notice. Salaries have basically stayed flat for years, while job expectations keep going up. I took this job after a career break thinking it’d be a fresh start but the environment’s so toxic I’m already regretting it.

Get some Xanax like a normal person and get on with it! Bet you also have “anxiety attacks” too!

"I love AT&T. You have to find the right job within. Life is good at T."

It's always good to see you post here John Stankey. We know it is you because you are the only one who thinks life is good at T.

If it makes you feel any better, we’re in a perpetual hiring freeze so you’ll never be able to move up or to any new job in the company.

Annual raise? When you factor in inflation rate, it is as if we don’t get any raise at all, and now I’m doing my work plus the work of two that left the group, since we’re not allowed to backfill. Wake up people, OP is correct.

We scored TWO Guiness World Records today for packing backpacks super fast. That should change your tune about the toxicity here. Right? I love stunts!!! That's what I needed. All better now.

“If your salary hasn't gone up, you are obviously not cutting it. Be thankful they've kept you this far.”
Or you are an L2 office person that’s capped out. Only so many Director roles. So advancing isn’t always an option. Very few directors get made company wide annually. Thanks to the flat org structure it’s extremely difficult to advance and thus increase your pay band.

It’s “emotionally draining” by design as a means to cull the herd. They want us gone asap…sans severance pay.

Individuals often remain employed in work environments that they perceive as toxic or unsatisfactory, particularly when the compensation offered is inadequate or below their expectations. This tendency persists primarily because they have not yet identified or secured alternative employment opportunities that provide improved conditions, whether in terms of workplace culture, job satisfaction, or remuneration.

In such circumstances, employees may choose to tolerate adverse conditions temporarily, motivated by the necessity of financial stability or the uncertainty associated with job transitions. However, those who find the environment intolerable and are unable or unwilling to continue under such conditions have two primary courses of action available to them: they may express their grievances through formal or informal channels, thereby bringing attention to the issues at hand, or they may actively pursue new career opportunities that better align with their professional goals and personal well-being.

Ultimately, the decision to remain in or leave a toxic or underpaying workplace hinges on a complex interplay of individual circumstances, including economic needs, availability of alternative employment, personal resilience, and long-term career aspirations.

Given the current economic conditions, the employment situation appears to be a relative blessing. It is hoped that, following the review of employee feedback collected through the recent survey, company leadership will gain a clearer understanding of the widespread dissatisfaction among staff. This awareness should ideally prompt meaningful improvements in workplace environment and compensation policies, thereby fostering greater employee engagement and retention moving forward.

This smells like a bot post. It could have turned up in any company’s board on this site and gotten engagement.
