Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

This place is a corporate drone factory

They don’t want thinkers, they want human Excel macros. Nod, comply, and maybe you’ll get a coffee mug at year five.

Fidelity has had large scale reductions in force many times in the past not to mention smaller layoffs frequently. The person who said Fidelity never fires people LIED.

Don't blame everything on Abby. Maybe the org has reached to a point where even Ned would do exactly what Abby is doing now.

For example, "Fidelity never fires people" is what I was told when I first joined two years ago. Imagine how much fat this org will accumulate with this mindset.

It is sad. Things are definitely different since Ned passed away. I think Abby has the wrong men in her ear. We used to be incredible people leaders which was fundamental to the companies succces. Some how they forgot that the better you treat people the harder they work for you.

Most Grade 8 and above managers I deal with are incompeten and bad decision makers with zero strategic vision. They actively promote equally weak people to eliminate competition and protect their own mediocrity.

So sad because it wasn’t this way under Ned. Abby didn’t get the gene on how to treat the people who do the work to make the business successful and her rich.
