Life pro tip… sometimes managers have their calendars open. If not, at least you can see when they are busy.
If nothing else, if you see a lot of small appointments they don’t normally have it may be an indication of changes coming.
Do it now, then do it again Monday morning and compare the results.
Over a period of time, I’ve noticed that although my manager often presents himself as being busy or occupied with work-related tasks, there are consistent signs that much of his time is actually spent on personal or household matters during work hour. Tell me about it. Perks of being remote.

Getting shuffled around and getting a new manager every layoff is so much more comforting. /s
This may not be that accurate. There will be many short meetings next week to explain reorganizations and that a person will be moving to a new manager. They will not all be layoffs.
