Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Can Darren stay chairman even after retirement?

Darren will have to retire in 2030 when he turns 65.

I’m wondering, is it possible for him to split the chairman and CEO role and then hang on to the chairman position even after retirement?

Kathy won't leave. She will retire from EM because no company will buy out the incentive compensation that she’s earned at EM. She will retire in 3-5 and either an internal candidate will take the seat or the Board will find an external candidate (that Dan likes from GM).

Kathy is already 58. In 2030 she will be ~62 or ~63. With a 65 retirement age, makes no sense. She will leave to go be a CEO at another company soon anyway IMO.

Why not Kathy?

I don't think the external advisors would recommend keeping Durwood on in any capacity.
He's a Good Yes Man, but they need an Excellent Yes Man.
Chairman/CEO is a tradition.
Dapper Dan.

EM is one disaster away from Dan becoming CEO. DW just needs to keep cutting costs and it'll bite him perfectly well before 2027 or 2030. Only so much structural savings before the structure collapses...

The board can approve anything they want but they won’t. He’ll retire and go on his merry way in 2030. Dan will become CEO and Chairman almost certainly unless he really sc--ws up U/S.
