Do not want to be disrespectful, but they are hiring local people from UTPB, knowing that it is weird to see EM hiring Engineers coming out from UTPB, and not from Texas Tech, LSU, etc, etc.

Beware of Permian. They are so short staffed that my buddy who is there works crazy hours.

Corp has to be leveraged to want to pay. With a shrinking portfolio and the war on O&G @XOM doesn’t have the want to really do anything but watch the earnings flood in.

I would go if they increased the financial incentive but no way I’m going for 10% when the cost of living is so much higher there than in Houston and the schools are so much worse. If they would pay a bigger premium and pay for private school like they do on expat assignments then I would go. Current offer doesn’t compete with staying in Houston or going expat.

If you pay them, they will come.
