Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Exxon's all about who you know, not what you know

Seen this pattern my whole career. The guys actually turning wrenches and keeping things running never get the good spots. Meanwhile, every supervisor’s kid or college buddy magically lands the cushy jobs. Doesn’t matter if you can troubleshoot a pump blindfolded, if you don't know the right people, you're stuck where you are. The Exxon way all the way.

I got rewarded with another job on top of the job I already was assigned to, but no extra pay because I wouldn’t drink the kool aid. Management’s excuse—I can handle it and will look good for the lean program.

Kind of like T.A.C.O Supreme's appointees.

Brother if you think a peon at the field level is even a thought in a CL30’s mind, you are greatly mistaken. This company no longer cares about what it even takes to safely do manufacturing at a field level. The whole hierarchy is full of people with starched FRCs and Lilly white hardhats and gloves just for photo ops. Your next big process safety tragedy is in the making because we forgot how we got here. If you’re a technician at a site, you’re just a necessity to run their business and if you make it up into management, you’d never be treated as an equal and at best, allowed to miss all your vacation and holidays so the managers can be off.
