Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

BP's plan for Castrol and impact on Technology Teams

It’s already widely known that BP is planning to sell Castrol. So I’m wondering, why did the leadership recently set up a new Technology Digital Delivery team that’s focused on Castrol projects (along others like CRM) under the new re-org for Technology? And why appoint a new CFO in India now?

If Castrol does get sold, what happens to the squads in BP Technology who are mainly working on Castrol applications? Do they stay with BP, move to the buyer, or face cuts?

Would be good to hear if anyone has seen this happen before or has any insight.

My toddler could throw his po-p at a wall and make a better technology organization. They are clueless

They would likely be ring fenced and moved as part of the sale. The receiving company would then optimise things on their side. This is what has happened in the past.

I know that might be hard to believe, but perhaps it is because work still needs to be done, and that it will be easier to sell with knowing what team supports Castrol instead of not being able to disentangle it from the test?

Oh, it's just because nothing in this company makes sense, as the Leadership is a bunch of useless monkeys.
