Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Why would I even fight to keep this job?

Every year, the workload increases, but my paycheck stays the same. No raises, no bonuses, just more responsibilities and higher expectations. It’s exhausting to watch the company profit while we get nothing in return. I’ve stopped hoping for change. Now I just show up, do the work, and count the days. Would I be sad to lose this job? Honestly, no, not really.

Strange to come to this board to ask why you should work so hard to keep your job. :)

I feel so sad. I just realised I am not the only one going thru this in EM.

These other threads go with this one. Coworkers. I have no one that I really enjoy working with or going to for help or assistance. Ultimately the root answer is a paycheck and benefits. But this place has ran its course for common people.

Even if I have been getting raises every year, with the increases in stress and workload, I’m essentially compensated the same or less. I’m not a hipo, so it’s discouraging knowing that my coworkers are going to continue excelling past me once we get a bit further in our careers. Does ranking outstanding/excellent each year matter if I’m a potential 29 and my promotions will stop?

On the same boat, I always just do what I could within working hours, go home. They got what they paid for nothing more, nothing less.

Yep, things have really changed. 20 years ago Everyone participated in the big money oil industry spoils. Work was hard, but rewards excellent. Now it svcks because of the Indians. However, you can find a niche outside of the big Companies
