Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Lost Opportunity for AT&T

AT&T lost an opportunity to place fiber in my subdivision by dragging their heels in releasing a project. Work prints were issued in 2024 and deferred into 2025. I kept asking one of my formerly co-workers (I’m retired) when construction was going to start. He looked it up and it had no start date.

Well, Google Fiber started placing fiber today in my 600 home subdivision today. Their workers said their goal is to microtrench 2,900’ a day against the curb. I notified my formerly co-worker and he said my city will only allow one company to microtrench in a subdivision, and his project will be canceled. Our subdivision is served by a VRAD. There is also a 600 home subdivision behind mine that will get Google Fiber next.

At&T will lose a lot of customers in our subdivision to Google Fiber as soon as they are completed. I thought AT&T was gung-ho able placing fiber to customers. Google Fiber is intent on taking over my city, which is north of Austin.

Trailer park? The homes in my subdivision are from $475K to $650K, and the subdivision that ties into our subdivision and directly behind us are $750K-1.0M+. They us why it is a huge miss AT&T delayed their fiber project and let Google Fiber jump in ahead us. We are now stuck with 50mb VRAD service forever.

Why don’t you move out of your trailer park and buy a house with AT&T fiber.

Any ways this company will shut down anytime. Unfair treatment of their employees specifically wrongful termination related to presence report will let this company fall very soon.

T can barely get many employees back to the office. You expect them to get more installers out in the field?

They’ll do the same at Lumen. Because of this scenario play8ng out all over I feel they didn’t need Lumen. They can’t do what they have.
