@b8 unless, you go back as a consultant because they’re understaffed and those who are there, don’t have the institutional knowledge to keep the train on the tracks.
Then you’re not really severed completely.
The PIL is the severance itself for lack of better term. When the PIL expires, there's no severance. You are severed and permanently cut off.
You are taking the PIP in lieu of the PIL for chance to keep your job.

In USA, where workers have no rights, no.
No you don’t get severance.
It’s on the former employee to file for any unemployment benefits post-termination.
Regarding severance packages, that’s between you and HR. If you don’t see it in writing, you’re not getting it.
