The reason that headcount keeps going down is because Hans and his Dishonorables can't seem to hang on to customers because Verizon is no longer a value to customers.

The five year plan discussed at the recent leader meeting states they want another 25% off the books to contractors or offshore labor by 2030. The goal is less than 50k Verizon on payroll. Yachts are reserved for all those left.

'All the time' is in reference to the US workforce only.....while every other country is staffing up. VZI just added 300+ new people.. The street should have pressed why the reductions are only targeting US employees nearly 100% of the time.

Headcount is going down, So let’s hire Altice USA techs at 50 dollars an hr on Long Island. We all will be out of jobs if this continues.

@a3 great post. I left last year after 19 years. Got the VSP buyout thankfully. Didn’t realize how toxic the place had become until I was able to see from the outside. Never regretted leaving once.

This is one of the most honest and raw reflections I’ve read here. The “CYA culture” and silent daily anxiety — those scars run deeper than most realize. What’s even sadder is how many of us stayed longer than we should have, waiting for the ‘payout,’ while burning out slowly inside. And yes — Hans is doing exactly what he was brought in to do. The damage is not accidental. It’s operationalized.

When I worked for Verizon; at some point every day, I would wonder if today was my day. I was waiting on the payout. After leaving, I realized how messed up that was and the toll it took on me mentally. When I got my next job, I realized what my decades of working at Verizon did to me. Deep scars and resentment and the learned behavior of looking over your shoulder and CYA. If I had to do it over again, sadly I probably would because of the money but life sure is better outside of Verizon. If you are on the course I was, I would make sure you are checking your mental health regularly because the toll it took on me was not realized until I left after decades of loyalty. I check these boards regularly because Verizon was a large part of my life. It is sad to see what it has become but Hans is doing what he was hired to do.
