Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Stop making the nurses be your salesman

Nurses performance should not be based off how many mail order pharmacy they can sell. Their pay increase and bonuses should not be based on those, nor Post Discharge Medication Reconciliations they do. The patients care is being compromised and the Nurse Care Managers are more worried about their percentages in these areas and management is pushing it like it's the end of times.

Basing nurse performance on selling specific products could create a conflict of interest for nurses, potentially prioritizing the insurance company's financial interests over the best interests of their patients. Nurses are ethically obligated to prioritize patient well-being and act as patient advocates.Humana is more worried about quarterly reports, only reason Centerwell is up is because the Nurse Care Managers are forced to sell the mail order or get cr-p pay. It's basically an antikickback. They are not giving incentives, but they sure as heck are threatening to not give you your deserved performance rating, pay increase, or bonuses without selling this for them, it's NOT RIGHT. Now the retirement email. What's next!!!

It's the same with the Health Risk Assessments. Making everyone do them at the start of March on every single member, no matter when the previous one was completed is BS. Member's had that survey completed in December and management was told to make us do another one for 2025. Why is this? Is it because Humana also somehow gets their pockets padded somehow with the more Health Risk Assessments that are completed, because it does not make sense to keep doing survey after survey on every member several times each year

It'll be interesting to see how the leaders really rate us on yearly performances for this, this could really backfire on them. I've got my popcorn ready.

@a7 Well that's surly another reason the quarterly reports were higher than expected for CW, i wonder if Medicare/CMS would be interested in this information too. That's definitely unethical and wasteful for sure.

Humana gets CW pharmacy to do it's bidding by putting everything on autofill. Meds get filled whether the pt is taking them or not and B-O-O-M, ratings go up for med compliance. This is reprehensible, unethical, and most likely illegal!

Tying nurse performance to the sale of an insurance company's mail-order pharmacy products raises significant ethical and potential legal concerns related to conflicts of interest, patient welfare, and the integrity of the healthcare system. Individuals facing such situations should consider seeking legal counsel or contacting their state's nursing board or other regulatory bodies to determine if the practice aligns with ethical guidelines and applicable laws.

Agree, my percentages are pretty high, but I feel like I'm more worried about these new metrics than my members care. If a member says no they don't want something, I'm ready to move on to the next that maybe will say yes to bring my percentage back up.

The nurses have a responsibility to promote ethical practice environments that support patient care and address ethical challenges fairly and transparently and this is definitely falling under a gray area of being ethical.

Pushing specific pharmacy services could interfere with a patient's autonomy to choose their preferred pharmacy and potentially limit access to necessary medication.
