So why the he-l is this necessary? Other than pure greed and the desire to make everybody else work even more until we break.

It's John Stankey's debt! It's more than pure greed. He crippled us
Definitely greed. These layoffs didn't need to happen. It's almost always the hard workers that get affected by these layoffs and the people at the top keep their exorbitant salaries and positions.
How many more rounds will there be because at this point, it's been every couple of weeks. Some rounds haven't made the news.
