Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Actual ChatGPT breakdown of his survey email

Here’s your no-BS Cliff Notes version of that CEO message:

TL;DR: “Thanks, but buckle up.”
    •    Thanks for the survey feedback: 73% responded, and leadership appreciates the honesty — but yeah, they saw the drop in engagement coming.
    •    “We’re changing — get used to it”: The company is shifting from an old-school, loyal, family-style workplace to a competitive, market-driven, performance-based one. No more job security just for showing up.
    •    If you miss the good old days… tough: If you’re waiting for the “old AT&T” to come back, it’s not happening. Either get on board or rethink your place here.

Main Themes from Employee Feedback (and how they’re spinning it):
    1.    Career Growth: Yes, it’s confusing. No, leaders haven’t nailed it yet. But moving to “hub” offices is supposed to help.
    2.    Tools & Tech: Still a mess. They’re working on it. Keep waiting.
    3.    Work Locations: Office spaces are being fixed… slowly. Be patient, but don’t expect miracles if your building still su-ks.
    4.    Culture: It’s messy and subjective. No quick fixes. Leadership wants everyone to “practice the new language” and stop blaming others.
    5.    Personal Wellbeing: They know life’s hard. They’re keeping benefits pretty good, and plan to hold healthcare costs flat in 2026. Don’t expect more than that.

Real Talk Highlights:
    •    In-person work is the new normal: Hybrid/flex isn’t part of the long-term plan. If you need that, this might not be the place for you.
    •    You’re being measured: If your productivity and behavior don’t align with company goals, leadership will know. And act on it.
    •    Teamwork or bust: “Win as One” is the mantra. Lone wolves or slackers will be spotted and dealt with.

Translation of the Vibe:

Yes, this absolutely has “get over it” energy. Leadership knows you’re frustrated, but they’re not turning back. You’re either adapting to the new direction, or you might not belong. The message boils down to:

“We’re changing fast. We warned you. It’s going to be uncomfortable. Step up — or step aside.”

I kind of love chatGPTs analysis of that. Stankey should just let chatGPT write his screeds. It would save a ton of time, and be a lot more readable in the long run.

The people he's referring to who are looking for simply job security at the "old" ATT are long gone. They've been terminated or retired. This isn't 1987. No one expects to be employed at the same company for 40 years. We have new hires on our team that think this company is a joke. These statements are being used as a red herring to distract from the 5x in office mandate in which folks have no dedicated chair to sit in and are forced to sit in the break rooms on the floor. If the whole point is collaboration and you cant even sit next to your peers, its pointless. Dog and pony show.

Funny thing is, the only thing moving on is the customer base who is leaving this dying relic. I mean let’s be real. What other company on the planet has a target but you only need to be 30% or 40% lmfaoooooo. Cope harder stank ba--s. Look around. Your sh-----g on your older talent that actually knows what their doing and your trying to attain youth. The only issue is NO YOUNG TALENTED PEOPLE ARE COMING TO AT&T jck-a-s. Your not Google, nvidia, apple or amazon. You’re a dying relic. The decent talents leaves after 6 months and your left with the sht that floats to the top of the ocean. Cope harder clown.
