Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AT&T uses Palantir to measure employees

Just want to get this out there. Per:

we analyze patterns of behaviors from broad cohorts (aggregated data). This allows leaders to identify behaviors that are obvious outliers, supplemented with the broadest set of information available, to determine if the behavior being evaluated is consistent with our stated priorities and employment expectations

They reach out to various business units and ask them for data to include into Palantir. Our team was asked a couple months ago.

I suppose this is the next step after RTO firings dwindle down: your performance will be judged by AI.

“ Just curious what kind of data they are collecting? ”

Brain waves, pulse, O2 intake, etc. It’s a “brave new world”

Didn’t Pascal or someone in the earning call town hall say we were not going to measure employees by keystrokes or lines of code committed?

The goal is to conflate overlapping tasks, automate role functions, and replicate what you do without having to pay them. That’s why they brought in an outside company last year to gather so called insights. The little code warriors will be relegated to offshore employees. As for you though, your days are numbered. Sorry to give you the bad news but gathering all this data about you for performance measurements has always been a lie. They lie all the time and the only reason they ever speak is to lie to you some more.

I hope this provides more clarity for you so you can prepare accordingly.

@c0 “honestly”!

Let’s talk honestly and factualy, the so called metrics that they have provided to employees have been flawed and continue to be. What makes you so certain that their other metrics/data are not equally flawed? I would not put any money on it…

Ignorance can be bliss, until the day when you are called into question of not being aligned with their expectations. And it will be there word against yours, guess who will win that conversation.

If you're actually doing your job, this shouldn't be a problem honestly

The basic monitoring used to be badge swipes, our new and improved technology can now monitor everything you do, including -utt swipes. It is a data point that JTS is most fixated on.

When you log in/ out, did the computer auto lock or did you do it, what sites/ apps you are on and for how long. There’s a way to see you log if you know what to look for - they installed the software earlier this year.

"Just curious what kind of data they are collecting?"

According to my AVP from 10 years ago, ATT was collecting keystrokes back then.

Just curious what kind of data they are collecting? Keyboard, mouse movement?
