Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Extra days off for me. Thank You

To John and the BoD:

I want to publicly say Thank You

  • Thank You for making this year the best ever for me and my family.
Instead of feeling sick and coming to work like a trooper, I now take a full day off like I should have been doing when working from home. You graciously pick up the tab for my absence.
  • Thank You for transforming to a Market-Driven, Loyalty-Free and Guilt Free employee culture. I no longer work long hours and I have not missed or been late to a single family event, track meet, soccer game, or charitable event that would have conflicted with work hours.
  • Thank You for being open and honest, finally, about your short term plans for me, reminding me again that I should not view my employment here as long term. I now look and plan beyond my current role and responsibilities outside of AT&T. I no longer carry a heavy load taking on additional responsibilities to pave the way for promotions and favor amongst my leaders.

With Life’s balance and calm now restored, I am having the best year of my career here. The job is so much easier with a focus on the “now-term” instead of the long term. Happy days are here again as we all sing the praises of the market driven CEO.
