Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

The Stankey Way, $14.4B for $2B

Don't worry we are right sizing the business.....

The company wants to exit the market after struggling to take market share from Carlos Slim's Telcel.

AT&T entered the market back in 2014 after acquiring Grupo Iusacell SA for $2.5bn, before snapping up the Mexican business of NII Holdings a year later for $1.9bn.

Despite this, the carrier's market share in the country is around 18 percent, which is significantly behind Telcel, which commands around 64 percent.

Bloomberg reports that AT&T has invested more than $10bn in the market in the past decade.

Stephenson made his rapid ascent to the top based on his dealings in the Mexican market. He and Slim are great buddies. History has proven otherwise, but what does he care. He grabbed the cash, made a stash, and rode off into the Mexican sunset with his golden parachute and didn't have to clean up the mess he left behind.

Rank and file failed to execute his acquisition strategy!

Stankey has got to hold the record for most asset loss in acquiring then selling off assets for pennies on the dollar. The total loss is much greater than the $130B debt that at&t carries on its books today.

I so remember when they wanted to be the Louis Vuitton of the Mexican cellular market. Almost a $1B in operating losses a year. I'm sure J.S and his apostles will say that it wasn't him, it was Randall and the board of directors who made the decisions. He only made the recommendation.

Double down on bad personnel policy, and sell assets for half.

Still winning?

ATT is nothing more than a junk bond at this point. For the risk you endure the dividend should be much greater. Lurking and waiting in the shadows is Stankeys next $50-$100B fiasco.

It's shareholders money and he is going to walk away with $250M plus. Always funny that ATT executives comp isn't tied to share price but metrics. You approve my metrics and I will approve yours.
