Year end bonus

What is the typical bonus for a software engineer in the US? For example a vp backend engineer making 140k a year, or an associate level QA making 88k a year, or a senior associate full stack engineer making 110k a year.

These are just some examples of salaries I found online. Really interested in software engineer bonuses since I am one. Also factor in mid/end year reviews (assuming you need met or exceeds to qualify).

I was told around 10% when I got hired but is that actually true? I've been here almost a year now and did not receive a bonus my first year. At my end of year review with my manager last year I was told I would receive one this year.

At one point in time it varied a lot based on what type of job you are doing. Now that seems to be out the window and has gravitated to paying the least possible both bonus and incentive comp regardless of job type. I have received 50% bonus with 5% raise but not under current regime. Expect minimal for both. In addition, if they fake performance review you will let you go with no or minimal severance. Bad situation at BNY. I haven’t seen or heard of this level of unethical behavior anywhere else. I’d imagine does exist elsewhere but is certainly not the norm.

Bonus pool is down. If you received 13% last year, you will get 3% if you're lucky. All $'s going to exceeded expectations and analysts.

People on here seem to be confusing incentive and merit.

Is there a certain timeframe you have to stay after receiving your bonus and 401k match? Or is it once received you can leave next week and it’s all yours?

This year expect much less. If you received 13%, you're looking at 3 to 5% this year.
