Thread regarding Fidelity National Information Services Inc. layoffs

Received a touchbase email for tomorrow.

Myself and a slew of members from my team. (But not all of them are from my team, and not all of my team was invited).

My assumption is either: "Changes are happening and you were not affected, but we're sorry", or "You were affected by these changes and here's the next steps."

if it just says touch base and it's with your manager only expect to be let go. They will dial HR in and read a script. If it's more or a team meeting or with multiple people then yeah probably just news of new structure or whatever

@OP It's a meeting to tell you which member of management in your area was let go and to offer the canned reply.

@OP I apologize, I misread your post. I feel like if it’s a group meeting with multiple attendees, it’s just an update. I read your post as if there were multiple 1:1s being setup. You’re probably fine, it’s probably just an update.

@aa every single person who I know who has been laid-off has either 1) had a random 1:1 with their boss or boss’ boss pop-up and HR joined after the meeting started or 2) had a repurposed existing 1:1 with their boss where HR joined and they were let go. Nobody has had a meeting scheduled to tell them they were “safe.” And if that was the case, shame on these managers for setting up something to tell them were safe and not providing any context. The least they could do is put something in the invite and say “hey, you’re fine, just meeting to address any questions.”

@a4 I'm by no means fearful. I believe in being prepared for ilk. But, I thought I'd share, its out of pocket for our team as we meet often already. My main assumption is one made previously, that its my manager gone or damage control over other team members being let go. I'll let you guy know.

@a6 nonsense. I've had meetings with bosses and or sr bosses during layoffs to be told about teammates and or leaders who were impacted and how it impacted my team and I. Potential restructuring etc. Times are scary enough. No need to add extra before anything is known for real. Could be nothing or something.

@a6 good-ish news for my team and I then I'd assume.

Either you're done or your manager is done.

@OP I’d say it’s is genuinely a touch base, the process is bad enough for everyone involved and I don’t think they’d be sending out misleading innocently named meeting invites and send them a day in advance in such times

yup, can confirm what a4 said. They’re not going to send a vague meeting invite to just tell you you’re safe, they would just send an email if that’s the case. Also, if I were you, I’d stop working for the day. Sc--w them for milking another day of work out of you.

Yea not good, start looking for new job, if you got a notice you'll be let go. People retained aren't being contacted.
