Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

It's nothing more than a paycheck

I find it fascinating that managers expect me to care beyond a paycheck.

  • How can they expect that considering how treated we are?
  • What motivates us to go beyond our job description?

It is increasingly clear to me that mgmt is completely disconnected from reality.

Honestly your attitude is your problem. All of your coworkers undoubtedly know your attitude towards work. As you get older and further in your career it is amazing how many people know you and can be helpful to you. But nobody vouches for a slacker, particularly a slacker teammate. Take my advice, the sooner you accept it, the better your future will be.

Try being positive and going above and beyond a few times. I think that you’ll be looking at things in a new light before long.
