No. No you don’t get to keep the severance package if you stay. This isn’t the lottery.
If you are in RTP then who cares. Take the severance and jump. 15k unfilled positions in tech at other companies and the available pool of applicants is very slim. It's like hitting the lottery with the severance here.
I’ve only seen one person successfully change roles since they got an early heads up they would be LRd and it was a demotion. You’re unlikely to find a new internal role so I wouldn’t be concerned about not getting to double dip on pay and severance. I’d take the severance and maybe the March exit date so I could job hunt for a couple months while still saying I was employed.
Why would you get a severance package if you are not terminated. You changed roles, just like any other internal transfer or promotion.

The better question is, will anyone be able to find and get accepted for any internal jobs posted? I'm sure people will find them, and possibly get interviewed for, but will you actually get hired?
My guess, 5% or less of the impacted employees will apply for internal roles, mainly because the open roles are demotions compared to the roles they're currently in. Probably 20% or less of the impacted employees will even look at the open req's. Of those that apply, 1 in 20 will get an interview, probably for form's sake to check the box that they "tried" to hire internally if audited, and maybe 1 in 100 positions out of the 3K reqs open will get filled with someone internally, if that.
I'd love for the ELT to be "transparent" and tell us how many impacted people's jobs they were able to save by transferring them into a new req via the Talent Migration program.
no one is getting placed in another role. So far, the ones I've heard about are being moved to India.
