Almost nobody, except for possibly two or three people, above store level positions at Belk is African American. Yes, you read that correctly, Belk corporate is nearly 100% white. I’m not seeing any
African Americans, Hispanic, Asian, nothing, where is the diversity?

@bq That would be an illegal quota, you imbecile.
@gp and how did you advance your career with belk? Let me guess, by passing the "or-l exam" in Don Hendicks office?
Leadership at Belk is NOT diverse.
C-suite and GVPs and up are almost all white men, with a few women in there.
Hiring is fairly diverse, but they promote based purely on favoritism and not merit hahah
The truth is the truth and does not care about race, s-x, etc. Excuses, excuses, excuses.
If you find that your career isn't where you want it to be, stop blaming others and take a long look in the mirror.
Self-awareness is the first step on your journey.
@bj what a gross response. Racist, homophobic, s-xist, all of the above? What a pathetic person you must be.
@bj---only hires based on merit? you have got to be kidding. What is the merit requirement? having a pulse?
@OP aren’t larger companies legally required to retain a certain percentage of racially diverse employees? 🤷🏼♀️
Belk only hires and promotes based on merit. If you happen to notice some demographic group or another isn't well-represented, well, it's not too hard to figure out why...
who cares about diversity? id rather base it on knowledge and performance...stupid to keep talking about diversity, dont damn matter just be good at your job.
@OP that’s not true. Have you’ve been to the corporate office in Charlotte?
That’s what I thought.
