It’s the 12th and another day of no news. GF can’t even get layoffs in a timely manner.

Bwhahahaha. I bet if you tried to explain to her how this comes off badly or insensitive or that it makes logical business sense given the very layoffs mentioned in beginning on you meeting she would look at you like you had two heads and honestly not understand what you are trying to say to her.
Our manager assembled us today . First giving us the bad news of 4 colleagues, all by all measures top technical contributors, but perhaps lacking the essential quality of talking a lot about themselves and their own work whilst praising our manager. But she also gave us the very good news of her own promotion to VP level!
I love when my manager or 2nd line manger pulls out the transparency card. At Globalfoundries this is code for pay attention we are trying to misdirect your focus else where. And it’s usually to a room of mostly phds who dissect and see right through it within a minute. Few times they have been called out on the spot but just sit there looking stunned even to suggest that they are saying isn’t portraying the truth! Few months go by and yup phds we’re right. And the cycle continues. Globalfoundries rocks!!
Be patient. The big impact is coming tomorrow.

Three days. You forgot C and D shift which will be Wednesday. They have been doing small groups all day and will kick off the rest tomorrow starting with B shift in the am followed by A shift then most of the impacted E shifters. If you are not pulled into a meeting by Wednesday evening then odds are you are safe. Refocus and continue to do your job or start looking elsewhere.

I literally just said the same thing. It was the office people today from what I heard, but I agree, why do we have to split this up into two days?
