Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

VPs if you’re reading this

If any VP is on this thread please just tell us how you decided who to layoff. It’s happening at this point. At least you’ll save us having a speculate for the next week. I know you’re supposed to be tight lip, but please please please. Just tell us.

@a3 is correct. Not a VP, but had to rank my folks a few weeks back based on performance. It’s just simple stack ranking. If you have 10 folks, rank em 1 to 10. If 20% are RIF’d, #9 and #10 are gone

Unfortunately this is where you realize how they operate. You won't hear much, if anything, from anyone after the announcement until your last day. They'll go on business as usual and ignore you. Even HR.

The south Asian mafia will be safe. Long tenure employees will be replaced with contractors.

Despite the HR LinkedIn lies, leadership doesn’t view us as people. VPs or AI or whatever set the criteria will not give you an explanation and doesn’t think you’re owed one. You’re a number on a page. The new chairman of the board’s interview on cnbc says it all. Market cap, bond ratings, and market share matter most. Happy holidays from the ruling class of this country. It’s sick and demented that corporate culture is allowed to operate like this and ruin peoples lives in the holiday season.

FWIW, HR is the biggest user of Google's Gemini to do/help with their work in the company. That info was shared at a town hall earlier this summer, so it's no secret. Thought the VPs have some say, I pretty sure the RIF decisions are/were (already done) by AI.

VZDalitIndia supremacy - I remember working on the My Verizon app, amazed at the incompetence polluting conference calls - a decade later VZDI wins

I can't speak for non sales positions, but for those carrying a quota, the ones who are on a performance improvement plan are most likely to be impacted.

What if you were new to a team in the last month or two? Surely you have to be exempt

They literally use AI. Nothing more nothing less.

nonsense. no one would instruct managers to take age or gender into consideration. You're a troll.
Performance. Simply ranking everyone in each band by performance. End of story.
No consideration for tenure, for position in pay range, anything. And cerainly not for any protected attributes

Age, gender, time in job, penetration into the job pay range, last PR score, most recent interactions, by job function, by team size, and the total target HC reduction number.

If you are management, they will target folks who are old and at top of payscale. Call AT&T, they can explain how to do it.
