Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Healthcare system being acquired by optum. What to expect?

Healthcare system I work for is being acquired by optum. What should we expect? Are they going to lay us off and outsource the jobs offshore? Has anyone been through this before? John m, Muir Bassett health?

Optum revenue growth is purely based on M&A as in merger&acquisitions. It’s easy justification to show “growth” to satisfy the Board/shareholders. They called it “integration” when in fact it’s “trash/burn” strategy - much like the M&A with Banking/Finance in the last decades or so. Quick result to shoe bottom line. Effortlessly by the C level. Have you noticed how C level got to have more imbedded under them? For example some regional CIO has CAO (area) and to top it off with CMO(market - regional) WOW! If I can’t do the job I was hired in, let’s bring in two more C levels so I don’t have to be held accountable or take any ownership .. dust of your resume instead of sitting duck!

Optum changes leadership and direction so often that you can get whiplash. They are about the bottom line regardless of the rhetoric about wanting to provide quality services and care. They are about keeping pay low and margins up.

They just bought us too. Taking benefit losses so far in the deal.
