Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Preparation

No matter what sector or company you are employed in, you should always work under the belief that you’ll be laid off eventually, its just a matter of time.

This is motivational fuel to:
Save more money.
Update your skills and\or resume.
Pay off your loans sooner.
Network more.
Keep a pulse on who’s hiring, what is in demand, what skills are the new trend.

This should always be done regardless of how well things are or are not going.

It truly is a numbers game. Some one out there runs a magic formula that spits out “whatever criteria” to be let go. Criteria selection is flexible. It could be tenure, pay, age (even though its against the law, age is a factor), groups, location, who knows.

I just ranked a 2 but the comp rewards are not released until next week for my team.
If the $ is not there, then for the future neither will I be. The cost of living has gone up 8% so at a minimum so should my pay plus more for my ranking. If not then, bye Felicia.

If you are getting a 2 or 1 on your performance review, then you should be safe.

I always go with this notion. I think many people, and especially those who have been around a while, are sometimes in denial that it can't happen to them.
I live below my means. Rent is cheap, helping me to save money. I never take anything for granted

My plan is to buy an expensive car before I get let go and ride around in it all day long. If not doing that then play Xbox all day. Two days before I run out of money I’ll start looking for a job. It’ll all work out. I’m enlightened and woke so I know more than the average person as to how the world works.
