Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

If you leave USB

Just a reminder, they expect you to give at least a 2 week notice.

I wonder how many people do.

If you are leaving, who is coming back? Really, burning the bridge to this pile would somehow hurt you in the future? They cannot give you a reference. A day or two is enough notice. Never look back and enjoy your new job. Happiness is now part of your future along with more cash.

If you expect a job in the same industry a two week notice would be the minimum which is common sense, but choose your own destiny

Some roles have an unwritten expectation of more than 2 weeks, but if you are “walked out” at management discretion the day you give notice you should still be paid for your notice period. Consult a lawyer if this does not happen. (You might consult one before you resign even, if you can.)

She will still get paid. They may not want or need you to work for those last two weeks, for various reasons, but they won’t just stop paying you the day you give your notice.

A friend put in her two weeks noticed and they told her her she didn’t need to work 2 more weeks. Kinda screwed her because she based it on her new start date at her new job. No she’ll have 2 weeks of no income.

If you want to leave on good terms, and be professional, you’ll give a two week notice. If you want to burn the bridge then don’t give the two week notice. You’re choice.

To my knowledge, there's nothing they can do if you don't unless they've just paid for a certification or something like that.

How does this bear up if you live in an at-will state? They can expect anything but that doesn’t address any legality.
