RIF is one weeks pay per year worked up to 24 weeks.
I've heard, when someone is outright fired there is a payout too. What is that (being fired) payout compared to the payout for a RIF?

@6ian What state are you in? Where I live, if you quit or you are fired for cause, you get nothing beyond what they owe you for time worked plus any accrued sick, vacation or personal time. And you are not eligible for any unemployment benefits unless you are unemployed thru no fault of your own.
I doubt HON is brave enough to not give bare minimum required by state law to fired employees. There may be a few weeks difference between a RIF and PIP, but that's it
Got Pipd - Came off Pip. Then terminated for "performance". 10 years of 1 - 2 - 4's.
12 weeks severance paid. Much better job now. Thanks HON!
I'm the OP. I know with certainty some folks get a payout after PIP firing. Just don't know how much or under which scenario. I think they are made to sign an NDA.
When they 'make up' poor performance and give you a PIP..you are screwed. Time to get the he-l out.
Depends on cause, documentation quality, and ethnicity of the person.
Fired "for cause" at any company has a distinct reason such as poor performance, normally with warning period, watching po-n or gambling on company time, etc. Specifically, it usually includes denial of unemployment insurance in addition to no severance package.
RIF: One week pay for each full year of service. Min 4 weeks. Up to 26 weeks.
Fired: nothing
depends on the reason for the firing I imagine. when I was there a coworker was fired "for cause" (be-cause Honeywell said so) and they did not receive any payout. top performer, sole sme of their area, doubt it was a performance issue.
