Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

I think we need to value what we have

Previously, many mentioned move to Amz or MFT, but now all those ones are having huge layoffs. I really think both management and our employees should treasure what we have now. Keep the good traditions and improve what we can.

— “Sir, how dare you try to post something positive and constructive. this board is no place for that!”
This is a board for those impacted with layoffs, not for those still employed. Seems to me being laid off isn’t by nature a positive event. The presence of these positive messages for those still employed are at best tone deaf to the primary audience.
Your sarcastic remark exacerbates the lack of empathy of the original post.

Who in the ELT has any of this sooooo valuable skills?

CEO's and C-suite executives obviously have skills that corporations see as valuable or they wouldn't get paid the big bucks and get rich while the every day individual contributor does more work for less pay.

If it was so easy to be a c-suite executive, everyone would do it and we'd all be rich. I definitely took the wrong career path as I didn't end up w/ a job where I can get fired and have my "contract" paid out making millions and some other company will pay me millions under a new contract and they'll brag about hiring me. I don't know which is better: athletic coaches jobs or c-suite jobs.

"So the companies who hired like crazy during covid are firing folks"

The companies that acquired potential competitors due to the lack of anti-trust enforcement laws. Followed by laying off thousands of employees to cover the cost of the acquisitions. How many employees did these companies add through acquisitions?

As a Cisco employee, you should know this acquisition game well by now.

Not sure which dope you are taking but send some over here as I would love to see the world as you do.
So the companies who hired like crazy during covid are firing folks. However in this area Cisco has been a leader for years. Removing any form of psychological stability for people by having erratic layoffs which are not even bound to performance.
We lack clear vision in many products and follow. Not sure what is there to keep. This complacency needs to stop and we need to try and get back on track. Atleast that is why I naively get up ever morning and put my sneakers on for. So that we stop this mediocrity trend.
Naive : yes sir, but only dead fish follow the stream.

Y'all so naïve here. The end game is to make the rich richer. If it means thousands of poor hard-working souls have to lose everything, so be it. Y'all make me laugh with acquiring better skills by moving to AWS, Google or Burger King. None of you is gonna get richer doing so. Who in the ELT has any of this sooooo valuable skills? The only thing the leadership team in any of all those publicly traded companies value is shareholders contentment and self enrichment.
