Google and Microsoft have much larger profit margins than we do, I don't seee a way to avoid this. We cut a lot of people in 2001 and 2008, we will again. On the positive side, I think we are lean, most of the teams I work with are understaffed. I'd be worried if I were a manger with few direct reports, I've already seen managers moved to other roles this half and their people merge with other teams. Hopefully, we don't lose a lot of people, I was laid off in 2008 and it sucked, I was lucky to find something else at Dell a month later though.
