Yet the H1B hiring continues in full steam. Such a shame with all the US citizens hurting.

The progressives get what they deserve. You get what you vote for. Too bad they make it miserable for the rest of us.
Why does a company want to pay extra money to hire H1b? Because they can't find enough qualified local candidates. If they don't hire H1b workers, you won't have your job at all. Since the cost of onshore can be very high, they will move as many jobs as they can to offshore locations like India. Covid and WFH already accelerated this process. Nowadays, most teams have an Indian sub-team. That's what happens in many tech companies.
Don't make the Valley become the next Detroit.
Seems a lot of American 'former' employees are just starting to wake up to the dangers of importing H1B visa workers. The rest of us have been concerned about this for decades, Now you are seeing the impact at a personal level. You think the systems rigged against you. Guess what? The system is rigged against you. Now get in line and wait for what the overlords will give you. You helped create this mess, now you get to live it.
“The purpose of H1B has always been for developing internal talent and career management”
Did you come up with that yourself or copy from some other forum?
stupid liberals, get fked..
This was the way the Sr Greedy Leadership Sold it to the unsuspecting Americans and is very....VERY naive.
MS might be global but we need to think and act locally.
People in one region cannot "truly" perform work for another region at the same knowledge level - there are cultural differences, and a deep understanding on what regional/local regulations apply to the work being done or products being sold that are missing when talent is imported.
The purpose of H1B has always been for developing internal talent and career management, not for replacing workers in any one region.
Now if we want to talk about replacing workers in so called "high cost" areas with ones in low-cost regions then the discussion thread should shift to "offshoring" ...... and here we can have a lot to talk about.
It’s a global economy “Mr American” and MS is a global company.. getting yourself educated on business 101 would help with your next job rather than trash talking..
Exactly! This isn’t talked about enough.
