Thread regarding MetLife Inc. layoffs

AVIP

Can we get transparency. How much $ pool is - cascade down. How managers quantify subordinates ratings? There needs total transparency.

Travesty that the senior leaders deliberately hold down the smart, hard workers and promote/coddle/protect the d-mbest managers I have ever encountered. This place is like charity but for employment. Way too many charity cases here. It's laughable from afar, but incomprehensible living through it.

+ noted the old folks carry some kind of attitude and ego with them and behave like masters to newly joined people. I am getting corrected and coached by these so called managers for matters not related to work and even during normal personal conversations I am stopped and given unnecessary advices on what should I talk , what not to talk but they can do anything. The folks outside my team talks to me in more respectful and inclusive way compared to my team.

Yeah in my department they already know who they plan on keeping after new technology is implemented which will eliminate the need for several positions. They don’t care that they suffocate talent. Hire new people and pay them more than those who’ve been with there. Promote and pay more to just out of college than those with years of experience. No transparency or framework how promotions are given. Their strategy is obvious. Make people unhappy and give 1% annual increases and force them to find a job else where. It’s a high school clique. Rotten people who enjoy being sadistic managers.

That's absolutely how it works!

Favorites get assigned projects in the beginning of the year-- The Manager already knows 11 months in advance that they will be getting the highest AVIP.

Manager gives people who bust their A every day -- Doing The Actual Job That Keeps Dept. Running - Some BS talking points/line.

You get know where being good at your job.

Do projects. Join Teams. Be a cheerleader for new initiatives that make no sense. Be a special demographic. -- You'll move up.

Otherwise-- You should quit Met!
Wake Up -- Quit this place!!

I did a year ago & loving it.

Exactly right. So you are selected for projects. It’s those projects that help to raise your bonus opportunity. But if not selected you get no opportunity for an increase in bonus! I see. So favoritism abounds! It’s rampant. The company should do an internal audit of the corrupt practices surrounding AVIP within a certain US business Dept

They rank people but you never know your ranking. Someone has to be last. You are graded more on the stuff you didn’t do ( projects/committees) than the stuff you actually do. You can’t just join this stuff with being assigned or asked.
