Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Great article here from INC in 2018

It's the most spot-on prediction I've seen that summarizes the direction of our company.

I stole this from a reply on a previous thread by the way (just want to make sure people have a chance to see this who may have missed the response):

Cite your reference to Federal Labor Law (provide link). I'd like to read where the federal government sees a voluntary termination as involuntary. The VSP was no disguise. It was voluntary. Yes some states still paid out unemployment, but not all. The company stated that they would not contest any unemployment claims. I had some friends who took the VSP who got benefits and others who didn't, depending on their state.

From Benefits.gov
Who is eligible for Unemployment Insurance?

To be eligible for this benefit program, you must meet all of the following:

>>Unemployed through no fault of your own, and>States may have specific requirements determined by state law.<<

@1dxa Federal labor laws supersede state labor laws when there is a conflict, therefore severance takers are eligible for unemployment benefits in all states as VSP is just a disguised RIF in the eyes of the federal government, you just need to point that out if you get pushback

@@1ngj+1kQxr6rY Unemployment benefits vary by state when there is severance involved. Not everyone is eligible.

Exactly why I left in 2018, after a reorg they wanted to add two additional states to my workload in addition to the three i already had, ten years ago I only had to PHYSICALLY cover one metropolitan area, all I asked these people was to give me the promotion I was due 20 years ago that they handed out to a couple of do-nothing nepo’s and they said no, I put in for the VSP the next day, it’s four years later and I couldn’t be happier, I can’t even imagine what the poor slob that had to cover my job has been going through, and by the way employment law states that voluntary severance takers are actually entitled to unemployment benefits since the VSP benefits the employer, so make sure you apply for it it you’re lucky enough to get one, another tip, Obamacare is based on earned income, so since I never needed to work again after age 61 I have paid zero in medical premiums since 2018

It is never a good idea to allow a non-American to lead an American communications company. They do not understand the people, the culture, or the technology. Just like selling off towers, and halting LMDS PTP, and national fiber optic cable plans in order to fund a 5G MM wave technology boondoggle. Or appointing a failed accountant turned failed CEO of Ericsson, who can't say more than 5-Yee words in English - as the boss of what is left of Big Red.

The stock will comfortably stay between 39-40 with the current crew, with nowhere to go but down.
