Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Interest in leaving

Anyone review the IIL and determine if best to take or roll the dice? As long as we've worked X years, don't they give 6 months pay anyway? Not seeing any other benefit to volunteering except take control of your own destiny. What am I missing?

If you were going to retire this year anyway, makes sense to volunteer and hopefully get the severance. Other than that, there is no incentive.

Too many people expressed IIL that is crashed the survey. Like rats on a ship.

Cannot say for certain but the difference between being selected and volunteering could impact eligibility for unemployment.

Well it’s not an enhanced offer. It’s the exact same offer you would get if you are chosen to be let go. The only thing this does is allows people that want to be cut the opportunity to volunteer thus saving somebody who doesn’t want to be cut from being chosen.

They can't even get the intent to leave website working, just wait until people get cut and sh!t hits the fan for real.

If over 60, and plan on retiring, the health care & COBRA could cover you until medicare. If you take a chance, you could be working for an indefinite time. Or you work until covered at 65. To avoid age discrimination and remove older high paid workers, AT&T tends to accept over 60 requests to be removed. And you may want to retire early since you have more money than time or health remaining.
