Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Heads up OFS...On-call pay going away

Yup, you read it her first. On-call pay is going away. No more extra $$$ for those late nights or early morning calls. Sadly you won't hear this from your manager either. Just another thing being taken away from those of us keeping this ship afloat.

I put ctacs number on my blocked number list. So doesn’t matter what event manager is trying to get me, I’m not available. Try the secondary and good luck to you.

A good many computer and IT service staffs would endure long conference calls into the night - never got paid for the long hours. I myself do not work when I do not get paid ever which is a good rule. "If you're good at something, never do it for free." - Joker.

That’s right OFS. Keep resisting the reality of a “merger” negotiated in part by a greedy, egotistical power leader. For those keeping score at home, that’s Jeff “Malibu” Yabuki. In the meantime, take your OFD snark to those places where sunshine is not in plentiful supply. And then keep your mouths shut.

With all things OFD, they are quick to come up with the ideas, fall extremely short on planning, and never execute so I don't expect this to be any different. That's why I still use a Win7 VDI to access everything I support.

I’d use a burner phone with Fiserv. It gets turned on at 9am when I arrive at the office. It goes off at 5 when I leave the office.

Good luck calling me outside those hours.

Phone doesn't get answered if there's not money tied to it.
Maybe Frank will answer.

if your hourly overtime must be paid Open Solutions was fined by the state department of labor as well forced to pay back wages. However, you are correct salaried (non-exempt) can be used and abused at will.

why they don't implement a "follow the sun" model is beyond me. I can't tell you how many times I've been shaken out of bed and not being able to accurately diagnose an issue until 20 - 30 mins being on the phone.

This is illegal in the EU:-

They might get away with not paying extra but they do need to pay people their usual hourly rate for on-call support and taking out of hours calls.

"The European Court of Justice ruled in two cases concerning workers who are required to be on stand-by or on-call in terms of their place of work. The issue is whether this stand-by time must be regarded as working time in its entirety, and the implications that has for compensation, working time, etc. The decision hinged on whether the constraints imposed on the person during stand-by time significantly affect that person’s ability to freely manage his time during which his professional services are not required.

In the absence of such constraints, only the working time when actual work is performed must be classified as working time.

24 yrs with OFD and never received on-call pay. NEVER. So consider yourselves lucky you’ve gotten it this far into FrankenServ’s oligarchy/DICtatorship. At one time we pushed for it pretty hard and was denied. And the on-call schedule now is BEYOND INSANE! If you’re not recovering from work, you are working. Treated like robots, monkey’s pushing buttons! It’s like they are trying really hard to make us quit!!!
