Whoever we have been paying to do AI must barely passes their college classes. Its absolutely garbage. It is supposed to help us get through trouble tickets faster without having to do any circuit testing, but its not reliable.
Must be the same group of outsourced clowns who always tear ETMS up. Job security I guess

Process automation and technology advancement is not AI. For example, Autocad has enabled 1 engineer to do the work of several. No engineers were put out of work. Instead of doing 1 project per 5 people, they can now do 5 projects per 5 people.

To me, AI is the ability of a computer or robot to go out into the world and get and perform a job. That could be sales or support or personal shopper people in the metaverse or even running reports or processing POs or identifying business cases in a virtual office.

I don't see myself having a fluid conversation with AI or AI making the final decision. At the end of the day, it's up to the investors to make decisions on how to allocate their money, not AI. Look what happened at zillow. AI gone wild!!

So in short, the white collar jobs are mostly safe. White collar jobs are basically the glue that holds corporations together and finds/closes the gaps in the AI/automatable processes.

The OP is right in the near future AI and other forms of automation will eventually displace majority of workers from technological jobs. I know they have been saying that for years. The difference is that the technology was not available then as it is today. Now AI still has a ways to go yet on vast job displacement but it will happen. The current threat now is automation scripting to job security, this will lay the pathway for migration of AI.

I heard about some of the AI technology they are using in that AID group which is absolute trash. I think its IBM cloud pack or something and it doesnt work and has cost millions of dollars to produce nothing. Money well spent i guess. So if you think ai is replacing jobs then if anything it is keeping people with a job to run the damn thing.

They could use it to write the executive press releases and employee updates. Perfect use case. Statements that appear to have coherence and meaning in initial reading but are infact untrue or riddled with errors.

We been hearing this for years. Robots. Now this. Nothing really changed. You need to worry about more H1bs coming to take your job.

Then I'll do something else. Many of us in these white collar jobs could reasonably transition to more hands-on jobs or other jobs because we are not one-trick ponies. The real paper pushers without any other skills are the people that need to worry.

Verizon serves as the main surveillance apparatus of the federal government and thus doesn’t need to be run like a traditional for-profit business.
