Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

The name "Cisco" in Resume lost its power because now the public know the fact

A lot of HR, hiring managers and talent acquisitions of other companies used to want to hire anyone who previously worked at Cisco, but not anymore, these days.

Because more and more HR, hiring managers and talent acquisitions of other tech companies have got to know the reality of the level of Cisco employees who are actually lower a level than people at other tech companies. So the longer people stay at Cisco, the more disadvantage they will have when looking for a job outside Cisco.

Such a silly and incorrect post. In this bubble you forget there are millions of tech workers and a small number of fortune 500 behemoths who get who they want. If one of them wanted you, it's a huge leg up.

Not to mention if you didn't burn bridges and networked effectively you should have tentacles in a lot of opportunities.

I just had an interview the other day and they were excited that I had Cisco as work experience. I'm not an engineer but they liked the fact that I had experience working in a large company, so.....

Dream on. Hiring Managers at competitive tech firms are all aware of the fact of Cisco. They no longer have any interest in Cisco.

Classic speculative twaddle. Your opinion is not fact.

Absolutely not true. That is why you usually have many interviews with other companies, to figure out wether the candidate is good or just pretending.Lot of especially long term SE at Cisco still have a very good skillset and have no issues beeing hired.

Did you check who your wife did hanky-panky with before you married her? No? Same thing!

This sort of post is so witless. Where you worked before is irrelevant. What matters is what you know now and what your future potential looks like. I hire people on a frequent basis. I couldn't care less if they come from IBM, Oracle or HP.
