Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Internal Moves so Common at Cisco... But...

Instead of hiring from other companies, why does the company prefer to hire from within the company? If the company doesn’t hire from other companies, it gets more and more toxic and political, doesn't it? Just vicious cycle.

Has anyone moved from one BU to another? If yes, does it make any sense because you're STILL at Cisco, the same organization which is just so toxic, political, slow, old, behind the times, surrounded by bunch of Cisco admirers, hiding under the "big company name," who have just been staying only at Cisco for 15 years, 20 years or more with no particular skill or expert, working under incompetent bosses who’ve also been only at Cisco for 15 years, 20 years or more.

So what is your feedback after you moved out to another BU, reporting to another boss? I assume that the situations be the same, though…

I've worked in Operations, Marketing, CX, IT, and Security at Cisco. It's the same culture in each org, but the most fascinating thing is that employees think it's more competent in another org.

They might all be dysfunction but which would you say was the worst and best?

Every org at Cisco is dysfunctional... then you switch companies a few times and find out that publicly traded corporations are all dysfunctional.

Yeah, seems like it. As the old saying goes, “The grass is greener on the other side of the fence."
Things a person doesn't have always seem more appealing than the things he or she does have.

So we shouldn't expect internal moves would help any better... :(
