Humane way of downsizing

I feel a humane way of downsizing would have been, to eliminate the Agile job family as that is what they wanted but giving an option to employees impacted to move either to Product Owner, Technical Project Manager(TPM), or just Project Manager roles. They could have been given two to three months to re-skill, people not opting for this could have been give an option of severance. Feel sad, that such talented folks are let go, Capital One could have set an example for others to emulate rather than being a Copy Cat. It takes strength to believe in your employees and to stand with them, the slogan “People Matters” rings hollow now.

I agree, looks like tech and data scientists jobs are also on the line, they are going to push for automation. Tech and Data scientist please look for jobs elsewhere before you are laid off like us the ADLs, believe me it is very stressful and not a good feeling, it is said that getting laid off is worst than getting a divorce.

I heard the redeployment program is useless as untetnal hiring managers are told not to hire those laid off.

ALSO FOR THOSE OF YOU LAID OFF NEVER SUBMIT A RESIGNATION LETTER. IT IS USED BY THE COMPANY TO STOP YOU FROM GETTING UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS BECAUSE YOU QUIT AND WERE NOT LET GO. SO THAT C1 DOESNT HAVE TO PAY YOU UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS ON TOP OF YOUR SEVERANCE PAYMENT.

The focal term is “humane.” Capital One is not humane. They don’t even attempt to assist the folks that have been with the company for decades and have a BS redeployment program.

I agree with the last poster. But they are planning to cut projects and new products and its the first sign other major layoffs are to come. The agile leads or project managers are always the first to go and the rest will go afer them.
