JOHN: The price of WTI dipped below $80. The $hit we produce is mid $50s.
ALEX: We need to reduce our costs. Our headcount is still to high.
JOHN: But we can't afford to pay people out.
ALEX: Not a problem. Between the mediocre bonus, paying increases, and our new "Hybrid" work week, people will leave on their own.
JOHN: We will lose our best talent.
ALEX: No John, we will lose our expensive talent. We'll be fine without them. There are tons of young people itching to work for Cenovus.
JOHN: Better pray Superior start-up fine.
ALEX: So long as nothing happens while I am there to cut the ribbon and drink some champagne, not really my concern.
JOHN: Ain't life grand ??
ALEX: Yes it is John. Yes it is !!

There will be a lower bonus for the broad group and special talent retention bonuses for select people this year. I’m not making this up.
You all wait for bonus time if you want to be disappointed. They’ve been scaling back our package a bit at a time and if they want to increase people leaving without packages what do you do? Stiff the losers on their bonuses and LTIs. Just wait. It’s coming.
The conversation between Alex and John is missing one thing:
ALEX: I need a 4th house in Hawaii should we give ourselves some extra bonuses?
JON: Why yes, yes we should. Let’s just scale back some of our staff’s bonus dollars
ALEX: done
We will never see the results of that last survey. I’m not even sure why they bother. We are a P 50 company, Alex is obviously proud of being mediocre. Our last VP of HR lasted like a month or two and now they have some internal guy there because our HR team is known throughout Calgary as being toxic so they can’t even hire anyone for the VP position. Alex doesn’t want the work from home but he’s not man enough to actually just be honest with us. So yeah. Life is great at the big CVE just ask any manager or higher.
Perhaps @1hlk+1kXkVNn6 Cenovus should undertake the survey again after the latest changes. I'm sure employees who travel-for-work are thrilled they still are required to be in the office four days a week.
You dolt... survey was completed late last year results are being analyzed and distilled.
Sea cans of lipstick have been ordered...
I dare Cenovus to undertake a "Great Place To Work" survey.

When Alex started he said Cenovus employees are “spoiled”. I thought it was a rumour but looking back at all the changes, it was not a rumour. It takes time to roll it all back and they are not done
