Thread regarding Optum layoffs

February 2023 Layoffs

More layoffs and terminations will ramp up this month. Management has been asked to put together project plans for their teams so that as team members are let go they can divide the work left over to others. They want to ensure nothing is dropped or not finished. Good Luck everyone!

This place isn't worth it. I've seen too many people cut when it really should have been upper management.

Referring to IT contractor cut thread. Contractors are brought in to supplement FTE work force. Often time, they are brought in to make up the difference for the incompetent management tier! Contractors are more appropriately labeled “ target” .. it’s easy way out when managers can’t manage nor lead.

Curious about the claim that all Optum IT contractors are being let go end of month. How expansive is this? Does "Optum IT" include everyone across all entities Optum has swallowed?

So I started with this company 15 months ago and it has been complete chaos. 4 different supervisors (2) that didn’t know my job but were enforcing the unobtainable metrics forced upon us. 2 layoffs and many co-workers that cheat and cut corners to make those metrics and they are ignored by management due to diversity. I worked many hours of OT as much as I could and every day of remote work I had I appreciated. I tried to do a thorough job and correct one for the chronically ill patients my divisions services. And included were my coworkers who worked hard for the patients also. I realize no one is safe from a layoff. Not the person who has given years of their lives to this employer, nor is the person who cuts corners, or tramples on their coworkers to meet those metrics. You may think layoffs are tied to productivity but it’s not, we are all equal numbers to HR and will be laid off if our number ( which by the way, is all we are to them) is pulled from the hat by HR. And the safe productivity ficad they feed you is for the very young and naive. I haven’t been laid off yet but I feel it coming. Do not invest much in this company, they don’t care about you at all. In the very least I know that I worked hard for the patients and with my coworkers for them. I’m good with that. Your welcome 🤗.

I am hoping on my team, they let go a few people and then let us rehire people who want to work. Quiet quitting, the organization owes me something, I refuse to do their work, I wasn't hired to do that kind of work, so and so is the bosses favorite, I have too much work to do, why was this person hired, my boss suck...
I will take OGA because they want to work. But alas, they will probably fire the people who do all the work and the rest will be expected to make up for the loss. Rinse and repeat. It is sad that this "reorg" "layoff" is now just a cycle and as expected as congress not being able to pass a budget. I get that the company is large, I get that we buy up assets like we are shopping at a tag sale, but could we remain stable long enough to accomplish ANY of the aims they say they want to achieve? The failure comes from leadership. They are the ones who should be fired.

How much notice does UHG/Optum usually give when doing layoffs? 14 days, 30 days, no notice?

It would really be nice if acronyms were not used. Not all of us know the depts you are speaking of.

I can think of a few managers who definitely need to be fired for not being forthcoming, immature comments, and just plain stupid! I'm sure you know who you are so keep driving the stock down so I can put a short sale on it. Rock On!!!
