Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

New VP of Stores

I don’t understand why they would hire someone at 750K when they have someone who has been doing this job for a while as well as his job and is good at it. Yet they can’t afford to pay severance to the employees they terminated.
As bad as the previous leadership was ST these clowns are pathetic. They have no idea of what they are doing.
I feel bad for the store employees who have no idea what is happening.
There was no reason for this company to crash and burn like they are. I’m sure the original owners if they are still alive would be upset to see what they built be brought down to dust.

Go woke go broke wasn’t the issue this company went downhill.
Poor leadership and clear direction from corporate is what led to the downfall of this company.
• 100% reduce inventory in stores but not decimate assortments and categories
• Blueprint was a disaster. Cookie cutting stores was the nail in the coffin.
• mismanagement of layoffs. First round of layoffs were a complete sh*t show.
• trying to be exactly like Target
The list can go on and on.
Bottom line should have kept assortment but give the stores a new make over.

That same new SVP of stores told my DM last week that there would be no more mass closures of stores. So, just like the last 2 SVP’s of stores……a liar.

The founders are living cushy in retirement and could give two sh--s, unfortunately but unsurprisingly

“ “When we left, we shut the door and that was it,” Mr. Feinstein said. “Whatever happens, happens, and it was up to the next group to do the best they could. Plenty of chains have gone out of business.”

So they lay off hundreds. Close a ton of stores. Liquidate the entire Harmon concept. Can't pay their tremendous debt. But hire a VP of stores?
