If its in the afternoon, it is the RIF survivors meeting. Been part of many. They first tell you how valuable you are (BS) and here is the new org chart.
Which org are you talking about (all hands with VP and then director)?
Our VP scheduled an all hands tomorrow 2-2, followed by one from our director. Could just be kickoff related, but now wondering if it is going to be a "we're going to cut heads" meeting.
I really hate to burst bubbles, but managers don't schedule a 'riff meeting' ahead of time - at least they should know better not too. They call you 1st thing in the morning the day of notification. They might schedule a time on your calendar, but that should happen that morning - not ahead of time. The goal is to have all the notifications completed in the AM as early as possible so they can be done by mid morning. Sometimes it will bleed into the afternoon based on various factors.
RIF tomorrow. My boss canceled a customer call at 8 AM because he told me he needs to handle several HR matters with employees first thing in the morning.
Calls are being scheduled for tomorrow morning with those affected.
So that odd call with an HR person and my manager tomorrow is nothing to worry about? good news.

Does it really matter what day? The facts are Verizon conducts layoffs twice per year every year. I can 100% guarantee Verizon will have at least 1 layoff this year. How’s that?

The only thing 100% confirmed is that no one that's posted recently about rifs has been correct. So maybe don't post unless you have some actual confirmed info.
