Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

The Game

Target over 40 workers and non Indians in LR. Throw about 20-30% under 40's in there to hide the discrimination.

Then, most internal opportunities are given to under 40 and Indian. You end up with a real layoff in 90% of over 40.

We know. They know we know. They know that we know that they know that we know.

Yet, they still do it.

Most folks who got laid off are non-indian, that's a fact. The small percentage of Indian who do get laid off are able to find another internal position right away skipping the entire interview process because the Indian network is just too strong at Cisco.

I spotted the spelling mistake
"Our senior staff has been assembled in current configuration to take advantage of focusing on run-the-business philosophy."
I know you meant to say "ruin-the-business"

If You Know You Know. If They Know You Know.
BTW, RTP is closing. Trust me on that.

You compete like a rat to obtain Grade 10
You compete like a rat to obtain Grade 11
You compete like a rat to obtain Grade 12

by Grade 12 you've become a rat

Yup buddy, congratulations on finally realizing you are in The Matrix. Strap in and hold on tight. It is, by far, the toughest game there is with lots of pitfalls but I'll be damned if it isn't enjoyable as well.

Here's a little hint...the point of this game is to get out with your health and sanity fully intact. The hack is to focus on accumulating income producing assets and buying your ticket to freedom. The biggest pitfall is coming to this site and shamelessly virtue signaling about being a wageslave who works too hard.

"Regretfully only certain industry leadership has a true proven track record of cost management in a technology environment....
That fiscal-first mindset leadership skill is the pure simple reason for our continued existence as a profitable company."

@1whu+1kZf6jTU Thank You CP, otherwise "Exec" for posting this at 10-12 AM, UK time - just so people don't think its JD or someone else. Thanks also for confirming the opinion on this board that individual contributors are just numbers with that "fiscal-first mindset leadership skill" statement. So, all that hype about "Cisco family" is just BS - confirmed. Layoffs always have been personal for mid-managers - getting rid of people they dislike personally or figure is a threat to their position.

We understand your regret for not having the "proven track record of cost management in a technology environment" and we all suffer because of it with our livelihoods on the line. You yourself posted last week that "technology is a commodity" - so why would our leaders be expected to have that kind of skillset? You just admitted that you are not qualified to do the job you are holding. The ELT needs to clear this management fat. Otherwise Cisco is indeed dead. These managers don't do any work, just look at balance sheet (as confirmed).

Our senior staff has been assembled in current configuration to take advantage of focusing on run-the-business philosophy.

Restructuring and cost alignment to meet board-level strategy quarterly projection objectives are a requirement of any business focusing on long-term profitability.

These decisions are not personal, they are purely business.

Regretfully only certain industry leadership has a true proven track record of cost management in a technology environment.

That is indeed a tough aspect to digest, unless you have walked the journey of managing a large balance sheet.

Only certain people are empowered to make fiscal and corresponding headcount decisions for Cisco.

That fiscal-first mindset leadership skill is the pure simple reason for our continued existence as a profitable company.

It is just the nature of business, nothing more; restructuring is not personal nor a reflection of the value of each contributor.

Good to read the opinions on this board, and Thank You for your contributions and honesty.

Coming from a white dude.

It’s a skill game, let’s face it and young blood is appreciated in capitalist arena- one who are let go will always find racial bias to justify them. Recommendation, focus on making connect and tech skill instead of throwing rants.

I've only met one person to win the game without being an executive. He got the axe at 50 and couldn't land another full-time job. Decided to obtain his teaching certificate and moved to a low cost of living area.

Looks significantly happier and left the sleazy rat race.
