Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Huge shock with salary decrease in the Real World!

As someone who was RIFd years ago from Verizon… just be prepared of the shock of making a great salary at Verizon and then BAM! You will be taking a huge salary cut from what other companies are paying. Most effected employees will prob go to contracting companies and you will at the LEAST be looking at a $20-30k salary decrease! Maybe Verizon shouldn’t pay so much to their employees and executives! It makes matters worse when these RIFs happen. I’m still not at the salary i was when I left Verizon and it’s been years!!!

Hopefully, you planned accordingly and lived within your means.

@a2 not true. VZ does market studies every year and adjusts pay ranges accordingly

In general corporate salaries are going down.

Maybe Verizon should pay the CEO's and executive board less?

The larger fact is the job market is the worst it has ever been and unfortunately I don't see that changing any time soon.

@a2 NOT true. Verizon pays really well. I left in March 2024 as a sr. marketing manager making $165k + $32 k yearly bonus..I was fielding job offers to do similar work for 90k

One anecdotal experience doesn't negate the fact that Verizon on average pay less than the market.
