to me, the check in today was a joke....too many smiles, congratulating Chuck on 25 years at the company while others are being LR and losing everything.....this company amazes me sometimes....

For the person saying that they have been at Cisco 15 yrs and only those not worthy are laid off, just so you know I was hired less than a year ago on the recommendation of a long term Cisco due to exemplary performance throughout my career and strong expertise in my craft. I was told by my leaders that my performance at Cisco consistently exceeded expectations. However, my role was simply eliminated. I’m okay with that, Cisco needs to do what they feel is best for them, and I already have job opportunities to pursue. HOWEVER, this proves that those laid off water not chosen due to being low performers. To even say that is hurtful, harmful and one day you may find you are on the list yourself.
I have over 30 years in business and often low performance is simply the wrong culture fit. And layoffs are seldom about performance. You showed both a lack of empathy and an abundance of willful ignorance in your comment.

I have been with Cisco for greater than 15 years and I have seen many many layoffs. Never have a seen a person get laid off who was worth more than zilch. I was amazed that they had a job doing nothing for so may years. Layoffs are the reason Cisco still exists as they get to shed useless employees way past their due date.

Apparently most of you can’t imagine a world where people can change jobs to work for or become better management, nor can most of you comprehend that Cisco has been doing major layoffs since 2001 making layoffs a known risk. Chambers was no better when bragging about getting his regardless and always maintaining unrealistic expectations despite many here still seeing him as a deity. Cisco Culture Since Chuck Became CEO
Employees are often being lied to from management. Management tells employees what they want to hear but not realizing that there is nothing behind the closed door. Employees are brainwashed into thinking that there is a better opportunity for them if they do this and that but at the end of the day there is nothing.
From the perspective of a new employee, this check-in was revolting. Celebrating the anniversary of the person making the cuts/responsible for lacklustre performance days after notifying people and announcing more cuts are to come?

I don't know how Fran and Chuck can knowingly lie every month, take exorbitant bonuses, spend incredible resources on unnecessary travel (so green), and have the audacity to say, "Your well-being is our top priority." I believe in capitalism, but the epic greed and lack of concern are hard to stomach.
