Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

RTO is never going to be enforceable

There was a push to get everyone back in the office this year and it just didn’t happen. I think people came in for awhile, realized that no one else was in the office, and stopped coming back or decided to just come in once in awhile to check things out and leave after
lunch. Almost everyone prefers to WFH- even the biggest rule followers don’t see the sense in commuting in just to sit on an empty floor. If it was only a few people not following, they could certainly penalize and push those people to be back, but if it’s more than half the company…I don’t know how they could fire or penalize the majority of people.

From my perspective, even if they cut my bonus 10k it would still be a wash with all the time/gas/car/food costs saved. It’s depressing having to spend hours commuting just to sit in a prison of empty cubicles. They’ve been cutting bonuses for years, so if it’s not RTO, it will be something else anyway….the culture at WF is getting worse and worse. Attrition of my team is unsustainably high. Even the long haulers are seeking other opportunities. I’m sure there will be a big wave of people leaving after bonus season…as someone who’s been here a long time I was hopeful things would get better but leadership is the definition of incompetence

I'd rather WFH and did prior to COVID, but if I have to go into an office I'd rather it be empty. No peers, managers or reports there anyway, so less distractions if there's not a bunch of random people are around making noise during my Skype/Teams/phone collab.
