Whatever you do, don’t think for a second that “hard work” will do you any good. It rarely if ever gets noticed. Whenever management talks to you, assume that you’re being gaslit by default.

Who the f-k want to notice your hardwork..just work, get the salary and go back...
@OP Nobody works very hard. That’s the whole point of having a white-collar job.
If you’re working hard you’re doing something wrong. All you should be doing is cutting/pasting pics of data into PPTs, and sitting on Teams/Zoom/Slack meetings with the camera off and the mute button engaged. Maybe mess with a spreadsheet every once in a while.
To be honest most of you posting this or thinking you work hard are usually the worst employees and laziest workers. Focus on bettering yourself instead of complaining for attention.
Respect yourself enough to remove yourself from places where you are not valued or
appreciated.
@OP All people notice is how much time you spend talking in meetings. This is why all these little middle-managers keep calling them, to create the illusion of work being accomplished and for “visibility.”
Yes, it’s a popularity contest. They just need someone to work in the background to support the chosen one.
The name of the game is to inflate the contributions of the chosen one, your manager, or people who can impact your ranking. Just don’t shine too brightly least they think you are competition.
@OP so sorry to hear this
They may or may not notice. But even managers admit that the ranking system is just a popularity contest. Everything depends on how well liked you are and how well liked your person representing you in ranking is.
