I wouldn’t put it past Belk corporate to put corporate spy’s in belk stores. We have new employees who are acting like cheerleaders for belk and have been with the company less than one or two years. It’s bizarre. They are in lead, HR, asset protection, and key holder positions. They seem overly happy with belk and will say nothing negative, everything belk is doing is for the good of the company, associates, and customers. It’s almost like they are brainwashed. Please comment below if you are encountering this in your store location.

Actually @17j, Belk has had closed door meetings about what is posted on this site.
@OP. Yelp. They are new and act like they have been with belk for decades and are self proclaimed experts on everything . Totally creepy. Could they be aliens or reptilians LOL? Anything is possible. LOL
@1ap lol 😂 I wish. Just a guy with a different perspective.
Do you really believe Belks has pockets deep enough and/or time to care about this blog?
@157&17j. Shill.
@aj Here too… and how can an regular hourly associate get promoted to a store manager within 5 years? It happened.
@16f Sad that I like Belk or sad that I worked worse? Maybe both 🤷♂️
Worst job I ever held was Sheetz during my undergraduate studies. To this day going past their stores makes my chest tight and I can hear the crazy beeping from the equipment in the store. I do have to admit the company was kind, they let me transfer from location to location for summer break, internships— held job while abroad for a year. I was never doom and gloom about it, it would have made the shifts so much harder to get through.
I admit I like selling and I have an interest in ‘legacy” department stores. Some of us a wired differently.
My time a Belks may end as I setup LLC to buy a hardware store for new side hustle/ semi passive income. But I’ve learned a bit — good & bad— but mostly enjoyed the people I met along the way.
@157- sad.
I’m that person at my store. Not a spy, but certainly have worked in way worse; Sears, Kmart, HHGregg.
Disclaimer— Belk is side hustle so only being there 10-15 hours a week helps mood as well.
Coming from Sears Holdings ( Sears & Kmart parent company), Belks stores are nicer, the registers are amazing — compared to the IBM dinosaurs at Sears Holdings, customers overall are more pleasant ( smaller $$ purchases help too— not dealing with appliances or electronics), every weekend isn’t a fire sale to ‘save’ the company. Is Belk perfect? —no— but it’s good enough for me.
Double discount weekends, one of big reasons I’ve stayed for so many years.
Anyone who is a new employee/manager/lead who is acting as a cheerleader is in cahoots with corporate. It’s so pathetic you have to see it to believe it.
I’m just curious how someone who comes in with nothing but former fast food experience can suddenly become a merchandising team lead. Yes, it’s happening all over!!
