I'm so over corporate life. The thought of dealing with another reorg or layoff cycle makes me want to just walk out. I'm seriously thinking about using my skills to start a small business. It'd be crazy hard, but at least I'd be my own boss and in control of the chaos.

@OP I feel 100% the same way. The only time I have every really enjoyed my job was when it was through my own company years ago where I felt like I was in a little more control of things. I joined Oracle thinking it would be my last job and I would get to enjoy working with smart people on interesting and innovative projects. Oh how naive and stupid I was thinking that. Every day for the last year has been a grind to simply get to Friday and a constant nagging anxiety about getting laid off at any moment.
Unless you’re at the top of the game in AI, it’s best to steer away from tech for your startup. Apart from AI, software is dead and anything but TSMC manufactured hardware is niche. I hear manual labor, such as ship building for the golden fleet, is an upcoming opportunity but that’s not much of a self-starter.
If I had the wit and the energy I would totally to that myself.
I've been wanting to start my own business - my best friend and I were trying to think of a business to start, we even had a friend who was a venture capitalist who would finance the startup. We couldn't think of anything we could do that could be made into a business, so it didn't get done.
If you have an idea and the energy and will to carry it out, go all Nike and Just Do It!
Don't do it alone. Join hands with some people or team. Unless you join team you can't validate .
Ensure you register your company and project before sharing.
